The Undergraduate School was composed only of courses that are mainly aimed at teachers' training until its reform undertaken in 1999 (Heisei 11) in response to the recent reduction of the demand for school teachers incurred by the decreasing number of children and to meet the new demands of the times. Its previous courses have been reorganized into three new courses: School Teachers' Training Course, Lifelong Education Course, and Environmental Education Course.
The School Teachers' Training Course aims at training highly qualified teachers as before. The other courses, the Lifelong Education Course and the Environmental Education Course, are designed to provide training programs for students to be professionals in a broad range of education-related fields.
