The Graduate School of Education, offering master's degree programs, was founded in 1984. It consists of the Department of School Education and the Department of Particular Subject Education, with a total quota of 58 students. The number includes 12 local public school teachers sent by the Tochigi Prefectural Board of Education for in-service training. The Department of School Education has a quota of 8 students, and consists of one major with three specialized fields: Educational Science, Educational Psychology, and School Education for Mentally Handicapped Children. The Department of Particular Subject Education admits up to 50 students, and consists of ten majors: Japanese Language Education, Social Studies Education, Mathematical Education, Science Education, Musical Education, Art Education, Health and Physical Education, Human Ecology Education, Technology Education, and English Language Education, each with several specialized fields.
